A Guide to Eyelash Extensions for Beginners

If it appears like all of your pals have sprouted a set of movie-star lashes, they haven’t. It’s simply lash extensions. If all of the fantastic mascara formulations, lash lifts, and fake lash alternatives on the market aren’t giving you enough push, extensions may be the answer. Before booking your treatment, like with any other cosmetic treatment, do your homework.

Lash extensions are semi-permanent synthetic, fake mink, or silk strands that are placed to your natural lashes strand by strand. As you may think, the application is time-consuming. However, the extensions are put one at a time with care, using a specially designed semi-permanent adhesive that will not irritate or harm the native lash.

Unlike fake eyelashes, which are put to the skin as a strip or individually, lash extensions are affixed directly to the lash. The end effect is more luscious, thick lashes that may allow you to forgo mascara.

The final appearance adds length, fullness, and lift to your natural lashes. It is up to the customer if they want a more dramatic or natural look, but in general, the more lashes put on, the more dramatic the impact. It is not a one-size-fits-all situation. For example, if you have damaged lashes or naturally short lashes, you may not be able to create the same dramatic appearance as a customer with thicker lashes.

How Long Will the Procedure Take?

What’s the bad news? Depending on your desired look, eyelash extensions in Singapore should take between one and two hours. The good news? You can use this time to lie down, relax, and unplug from your phone.

A competent lash artist will take their time. Your primary concern should be safety. It is critical to choose someone who is qualified to apply the lashes. Ideally, the stylist should also be licensed for the best and safest results.

What is the Aftercare Routine?

Avoid using water for the first day or two until the glue has had time to cure completely. Then, take care of your new lashes by not curling them, using mascara, or rubbing your eyes. Avoid anything that requires you touching your lashes, as well as oil-based treatments and cleansers. Mascara can be applied on just the tips of your lashes if desired, but it’s better to avoid it entirely. After all, your new lashes should stand out on their own.

What is the Average Lifespan of Eyelash Extensions?

Because extensions are attached to the lash, they last for the same time as the natural growth cycle or about six weeks. It is recommended that you use a lash conditioner (yes, it exists!) and gently comb through your lashes with a dry spoolie brush to extend the life of the extensions. It would help if you also got “refills” every two to three weeks to cover any gaps.
